Advice needed about appt/work

I am in need of some advice. Being a week and a half from my due date, I am just trying to be cautious.  My appt was canceled today because my MW was delivering another baby.  When I called back to reschedule they only had one time available for the appt, and it was at a time when I have a meeting at work.  SInce I am working up until delivery- I am still responsible to attend meetings, etc. Also, the appt is 30-40 minutes from work at 10am. So I would probably have to get to work, then leave, then go back, then drive 40 minutes home :(.

Since I have had a very healthy, non-complicated pregnancy so far, my MW said that I can just hold off until my appt. next Wednesday (9/26) and to call if there are any changes of any kind, or any issues arise.  I am comfortable with this for the most part, but do not want to be neglectful by not going for a 38 week appt (my last appt was last Wednesday-it would be two weeks between appointments).

Do you feel like its okay to go two weeks between appt. at this point if things are going well? Or would you make the appt. no matter what? Am I over-reacting/worrying?

Thanks for your thoughts!

  • Could you get on a cancellation list at the office? Something might open up when you can make it in.....

Oops, I forgot to add this.  I did ask to be called if anything opened up at a different time that worked with my schedule.

  • Personally, if you don't think you'd be worried, I think it'd be ok to skip the appointment. I had my 39 week appointment today and I could have skipped it! I'd also sort of missed an appointment right when I was transitioning from every other week to once/week because of the timing. My mw just said I didn't need to come in if I didn't want to. Like you, I've had a pretty good, uncomplicated pregnancy. Are they checking your urine every time? Maybe you could just go in at another time to pee on the little stick since pre-e seems to be one of the biggest concerns at this point. I always feel like if your care provider says it's ok, you're not being neglectful by listening to them!
  • I missed my 38 week appointment for work too. Doc said it was fine and to call if I had any changes.

I would recommend wrapping it up at work. I took 7 working days off before baby came and it was super necessary to get a head change around new priorities.

  • I'd be fine with it if you don't have other issues.
