Trader Joe's/Avalon Organics skincare products?

Hi!  Newly pregnant, figuring out how to make the switch to organics.  Has anyone used either Trader Joe's skin care line or Avalon Organics?  Would appreciate the advice!

Re: Trader Joe's/Avalon Organics skincare products?

  • I just recently started using the Avalon organics vitamin C line. Loving it. I feel like my brown (age) spots are diminishing and acne is improving. Started with the face wash. My face felt very clean. Added the serum next at bed time. Now I'm using the oil free cream.

I have VERY oily skin (which is why I slowly added the products -wanted to see how oily they made me).  My faces no oily-er than it was with other products...maybe slightly less oily. (desert essence products made me insanely oily)

  • Just this weekend I from my Olay anti-aging SPF 50 moisturizer to Trader Joe's SPF15.  I wish it had a higher SPF but it's something I'm willing to sacrifice as we move into the colder months here in the northeast.  So far my impression is that it's okay.  I feel like I need to use more to feel the same amount of moisture - my skin really sucks it up.  I'd say I have average skin - slightly oily Tzone with occasional acne.  I will stick with it for now because I feel better about the more natural product.

  • I haven't tried the Trader Joe's products, but I LOVE all the Avalon Organics products.  For my face, I especially love the Vitamin C and the CoQ10 products -- I use several of them right now.  And I've been using their lavender body wash and lotion for years - it smells so good!  My bottle says the products are 70% organic, don't have any synthetic fragrances and have an organic certification.  I have sensitive skin and I never have any problems with their stuff.

  • We don't have a Trader Joe's but I've used Avalon products in the past, that is until I went to EWG's (Environmental Working Group) Skin Deep website.  They rate the healthiness of cosmetics, cleaners, etc.  I use it consistently now before I shop!  It didn't rate the Avalon products well and if I'm going to spend good money on the products, I don't want them to mess with my fertility or add more cancer risk to me than I already have genetically.

  • No a fan of trader joe's skin products unless I like  the ingredient list.  I have a few avalon products at home but they are not my favorite.  For baby the least ingredients the better.  Avalon has too many ingredients.  I use plain witch hazel for toner, and 99% lilly of valley aloe jelly mixed with a drop of vitamin E as lotion.  and I love it.  for baby im planning to use pure cocoa butter, coconut oil, shea butter, and almond oil for skin and diaper rash.
