Made it through my lap/hysteroscopy!

I had my lap and hysteroscopy yesterday!

I got to the surgery center at 6am, and after filling out a ton of paperwork, they called me back. I was thinking it was just for BP, weight, temp, etc.. so I didn't even say bye to my dad or husband who were there with me. Nope! Turns out they were ready to do everything. I was finally able to get them to go get my husband after I had already changed and had my IV, so he was there when the doctor and anesthesiologist came by to talk.

They found and removed endometriosis on my abdominal wall, found and removed a cervical polyp (that they are going to biospy), and took out my para-ovarian cyst. Whew! The sent dye through my tubes and everything was clear and my uterus looked good. He said that on a scale of 1-4, my endo was a 1. So that's good, right?

The whole process was very easy, and I spent all of yesterday sleeping on the couch.

Today I've gotten up and walked around a little, but I'm still really sore. My kitten stepped on one my incision sites when I was still in the bed this morning- ouch!!

I'm not sure what's next, but I go on Friday (21st) to get the full report and get my stitches out. My RE did say that he thinks that we should try a couple more IUIs for the next couple cycles (I'm assuming he is suggesting this because it will take awhile for the endometriosis to grow back?) I didn't have any endo on my tubes, ovaries, or uterus, so I'm not sure how it could have been effecting fertility. Thoughts?

I'm not sure about how the endo they found could be effecting your fertility, but Stage 1 is mild, so that's good. I'm glad that your surgery went well, and it sounds like you are recovering nicely. I hope you continue to improve Big Smile

I'm glad everything went well with your surgery! I don't know much about endo and fertility, but I'm curious if you had any symptoms that led you to believe you had endo (esp of your abdominal wall)?

Take it easy this week and good luck with your recovery!

Endo could either grow back quickly or take a while- depends on how aggressive it is.  With stage 1 my assumption would be that it is not super aggressive and you would have time before it grows back. And since they cleaned it out, you could have better odds now.  There are lots of theories on endo, but there is one theory that it basically attacks sperm. IDK if any of that is true, but I have read a lot about it.  It's abnormal cell growth, so my thought would be anything abnormal can cause a problem lol.  Your cyst and polyp could've also been posing a problem

     Rest up and feel better!

So glad it went well for you and that the die test came back clear! Yay! I'm not sure how it could have affected your fertility. From my experience and what other Bump users have shared with me. is that you usually start having symptoms at about 6 months post lap if you are not on a form of treatment (BC or lupron). I would start TTC before then. Hope you get your BFP soon!
