Frustrated... maybe I need to vent

Im frustrated with trying to get in to see my doctor. She's transfered from the office where I started seeing her (3 years ago) to another office, and they dont have my history so they're trying to avoid booking an appointment with me until Im 8 weeks. I have a FEW issues with this.

1) I had 3 miscarriages in 9 months and am high-risk and would like to begin blood draws.

2) I am 5 weeks or so, based on having a period in August, which was actually really light and Im pretty sure it was more like implantation bleeding than a period... two of the miscarriages I had occured at 8 weeks but I carried until my 11/12week appointment because I had NO idea... if I am further along Im scared and want to get into the doctor.

3) I can't seem to get a call back from anyone...

This is my 5th time being pregnant. My daughter is almost 5, and I didn't know I was pregnant with her until almost 12 weeks. I had no real symptoms besides sheer exhaustion and headaches, but I was also going to school full time and working so it didnt register that I might be pregnant. after taking 5 or 6 preggo tests and getting all negative, I went to my doctor. That pregnancy went totally text book. The 2nd and 3rd pregnancies ended in missed miscarriages due to chromosome disorders. The 4th pregnancy was just too close to my last d&c and was actually a complete accident (although it doesn't make it hurt any less). Since then I have divorced, not because of all of this, but it all piles up.

Even tho the issues were from the sperm side and not mine, it's still nerve wracking to be pregnant and have so far to go with everything that has gone on...

  • These are not good signs when you have so many medical concerns with your pregnancy.  I would find another doctor.
  • Go to another doctor for sure that can see you soon!  I would hate to deal with all that. You can always find one that you really love alter but I know you just want to get in and have yoru betas drawn.  Either call them one more time or just switch to another doctor.  GL!!

  • I am sorry to hear that. I had some troubles this week with the ladies in the doctors office, because I have been extremely nauseated all week. After calling three different days, monday, thursday, and friday, my doctor called me today, and finally is prescribing zofran. Sometimes being persistent helps. They told me my doctor was booked till mid october, but when the doctor called me personally and he said, no that he needed to see me in two weeks. So needless to say they managed to fit me in.  I made sure to say thank you to the lady I last talked to, because I know they are busy, because my doctor is just that good. He was reccommended by a friend. I did have some lab work done Tuesday, and still have heard nothing about that. I would like to get that information because I did have a miscarriage a year ago, but I had a different doctor then.

Just try one more time, and then I would look for  a new doctor. Good Luck!

  • Thanks ladies... I was finally able to get it figured out today. I actually followed my doctor from another office, so it's more of the admin that's been a problem than my doctor. She knows my history and her nurse is going to be calling me for any pre-appt blood work or ultrasounds she might want. It's frustrating that Im not being seen earlier, but my appt is the 28th. I have been having this dull...um... cramping I guess? It's more like a dull ache but I dont know how to feel about it. I didn't actually have any of this my last 3 pregnancies so it's a little weird to me, but im not bleeding or spotting or anything and EVERYONE keeps saying its normal.

If it's so "normal" why are we all so worried about it??

  • I think it is normal, but only to an extent, and I think we worry because as women -- we relate cramping with bleeding naturally, due to our periods.

I hope everything goes well for you and that your doctor visit brings rising betas and good news. =)
