The strangest thing just happened

I put DS down for a nap this afternoon thinking it may or may not happen. He took a short stroller nap this morning, and he usually only takes one nap these days, but since the morning nap wasn't very long I thought we should try for a second one. Put him down, he's quiet for a few minutes, then starts making noise. I let him kick around in there for a while until he was starting to escalate. So I figure the nap isn't going to happen, go to put a dish away before heading into his room.

I walk into his room less than a minute later and he's fast asleep. I backed away slowly, walked back into the living room and here I sit, enjoying a bit of a naptime break after all. It was just so odd I felt the need to share. Anyone else's LO do this?

Re: The strangest thing just happened

  • That's happened in the morning before, while I'm getting ready at 6:30 and I'll hear him in his room, I'll finish getting ready, and go to get him then hell be back asleep and usually sleep for a couple more hours after that. Very strange!

  • Ashur does this often. He will be playing and babbling and then just be asleep. I think he talks himself to sleep!

That must be it. He's been making more noise in his sleep in general lately, but I'm certain he wasn't actually asleep until less than a minute before I walked into his room. So odd. Now I have to wake him up because we have to go! I hate waking a sleeping kiddo!!

  • M does this practically every nap. She's fussing, which quickly escalates to screaming, then 30 seconds later she's zonked out on the floor...

  • That happens all the time for us. This morning he started fussing at 5:30 (usually sleeps til 7, but every so often wakes and wants to nurse at 5ish.) I let him fuss for about a minute, but decided he was definitely up for real, but I stopped at the bathroom on the way. He calmed down when he heard me coming, and by the time I got to his door he was back asleep.

Oh she does. Just that I can never just put her down without the 30 minute rocking/singing ritual.
