My boss thinks I am a battered woman because of a bruise he thinks he saw on my face yesterday! Seriously, there is no bruise, and if there was it is because Ashur is a maniac and I get head butted often.
It's not a huge deal, but he didn't seem to believe my explanation, and told me he was available if I need to talk. Now I feel very uncomfortable because I know he is in his office wondering how to "help" me. You can help by coming over and watching my kid for an hour...then I can ask if you "need to talk" due to the bruises on your face!
Re: Hoping some of you Mom's with wild toddlers can understand this!
I just saw your post on FB while shaking my head at all the outrage over the limit on sugary sodas in NYC. Apparently your boss has no children and does not understand the toll they take on you - injuries included! I've had fat lips, black eyes...at least once I thought I was going to break a tooth! A blood blister on my finger from being bit. Scratches, etc.!
Lol, I had to post this everywhere hoping venting would make me feel better...so far it has not.
Now I feel like I can't leave my office, because if I run into him my frustration and annoyance will cause me to look away, further enforcing his belief. My hopes is he consults with his boss, who has kids and grand kids, and she just laughs him off. I can't stop imagining him in his office trying to figure out how to "help."
It doesn't help that my company has a time off for victims of DV policy (which is awesome) and he has probably been trained to look for and reach out to his staff who he suspects are victims. They should add a special "co-workers with kids" segment to the training.

Hmm...perhaps you suggest he babysit LO while you and DH go for counseling. Then maybehe will truly understand!

My Blog: Decorate This
I completely understand.
This is what C did to MH's face one night:
He jokingly told people at work that I hit him with a frying pan. I didn't find it very amusing.
Holy crap, how did that happen?

Seriously, be like "Well, watch him for an hour and you'll see what I mean!"
Until someone experiences it they will never understand, unfortunately. I swear one day I was tempted to go to Urgent Care if my cheekbone didn't feel better in the morning. I swore it was broken or fractured. Surprisingly still no bruises yet, but plenty of pinch marks!

Nope, no kids. He has a niece, but I guess he has never been headbutted!

She was throwing a tantrum one night because she didn't want to go to bed and threw her head back right into his brow. It was a nasty black eye for like 2 weeks.
Holy hell ouch!
It happens. People with kids just don't get it. I don't have a kid story but I do have another example.
I was 8.5 months pregnant and holding a chow chow for my boss to give her vaccinations. The dog went nuts and while I had control of her head (and the vicious biting mouth part!) her back legs started kicking and scratching me everywhere, including my left arm (not to mention the anal gland expression, pee and poop...my job was glamorous). The next day I went for a dr appt and the nurse and my obgyn both asked me if my husband was abusing me. My arm was black and had bruised track marks from the dog's nails which looked a lot like a person's hand. I'm not sure the nurse ever believed me when I told her it was a dog and not my husband, but the dr scolded me for getting hurt. I didn't tell her that after that I went on to roll around in the floor with the dog for the next hour shaving it down :-)
