so when are u all makinf the big transition? our crib converts, so we will use it as a toddler bed for a short time then switch to twin/full. i am thinking we will switch around 18 months. we have been slowly intoducing potty training, which she already is telling us when she has to go when her diaper is off. I will seriously potty train ariund 18 months and i think at that rime i should switch her bed so she can get up and go to the potty.
let me know what u r doing and what suggestions u have!

Re: when to switch to toddler bed!
Potty training?!?! Wow. DD is nowhere near ready for that. As for a bed, I've read that waiting until they show interest in wanting to climb out is a good indicator that it's time to switch. So we plan on waiting until she starts to want out. If she is happy in her crib, I have no plans to move her. In general, anytime I've pushed her to move on, it backfires. So I've come to realize that if I just wait and take cues from her, life is better for everyone :-)
PS - I know someone who moved her son to a regular bed (twin size) at 13 months. Yep. 13 months. So when you think your kiddo is ready, go for it! You know your LO better than anyone else!
Exactly this. She is perfectly happy in her crib, so I'm not going to throw off her routine just because she's a toddler now.
No plans to potty train until next summer (@2yrs, which is still early from what I've heard). I was planning on starting in the Spring, but now that we will have a new LO, I am going to wait until summer is over (done traveling) and the stigma from the new baby has worn off.
We'll move Em to a twin mattress on the floor around Dec/Jan when we're ready for the new baby to move out of our room and into the nursery.
On that note: where do I find cute sheet sets for kids? I looked at a couple mall department stores and found nothing. Am I going to have to go online? But even a quick Amazon search just brought up characters, like Dora or something, which I don't really want, or huge bedding sets with pillows and all that. I just want a fitted and flat sheet, maybe a pillow case. And when do they start using a pillow? And do they use a certain kind for kids or just a normal pillow you get somewhere like Target? Sorry for the hijack!
i would try landofnod.com or serenaandlily.com they are a little more pricey but u can buy sheets separately and they are more unique ans adorbs!! thats where i got our nursery stuff from and plan to get hwr big girl room stuff from:

We're not even thinking about potty training yet either!
Our plan is to make the switch at around 21 months -- when Baby #2 will probably be too big for the bassinet and will need the crib. DD is just transitioning to the toddler room at daycare where she has to sleep on a cot on the floor and she's doing really well with that. I'm hoping she'll be more than ready for a twin bed at that point!
The tentative plan is to move him to a twin bed a few months before baby #2 arrives. Not sure when that will be yet. We are TTC so it's *possible* we'd move him as young as 21 months but we'll just have to see how the timing shakes out. If he's really not ready then, I guess we'll just have to buy another crib.
Potty training is FAR off for us.

I have no idea.
My first thought was around 2 for both... but now we are going to have a new baby at that time and I know it will be hard on C/a big transition. I don't know whether to do it before the new baby gets here or wait until after.
Ditto this! It will be interesting to see how our LOs change in the next 9 months...I mean, when I think of how they were 9 months ago, who knows? Maybe they'll be ready!
