Explain: Cruisers vs. Baby Dry

So I made my monthly trip to BJs over the weekend and they were out of size 5 crusiers.  I specificaly go to BJs for diapers and its not "that" close to my house.  So my choices were to buy Baby Dry or the BJs brand diapers.  I decided to give the Baby Dry a try.  DD has her first one on now and I already don't like it.  I can see it sagging and its not even wet yet.  It like hangs from her butt.  The Cruiser were always so much snugger on her bum and it didn't constantly look like she had a dump in her drawers.  I didn't have time to do any comparison shopping since I had to make a game time decision but now I'm wondering what the real differences are.  Can anyone enlighten me?

Re: Explain: Cruisers vs. Baby Dry

  • I don't know.  Once DS started walking we switched to Baby Dry.  We always liked them but once he hit a size 6 we hated them.  They didn't ever fit right and the top was so high over where we taped it.  I hated how it stuck out so much over his shorts or pants.  We switched to Huggies and haven't looked back.

  • I don't know, but I've used Baby-Dry since he was ~3 months old, and I think they're great.  It doesn't sag like you described, and they cost less than Cruisers, which is always fine by me. I bought Cruisers once recently bc/ they were out of BD's, and they gave him the worst rash I've ever seen. Awful!  I called Pampers and they gave me a refund.

  • I had the opposite experience as esposa - we tried Baby Dry once with dd and she had a terrible diaper rash (we usually use Cruisers).  I also find that the Cruisers have fewer leaks and fit better.
  • we just switched from cruisers to baby dry when ds reached six 6 in cruisers.  i liked cruisers better for the same reason you do, the baby dry seem to hang so low between his legs.  cruisers are more expensive and you just don't get that many at size 6.  i'm thinking about getting bj's brand next time...that's what they use at his school.
  • We had the same experience as esposa - DS got a horrible rash from cruisers (caused by the mesh lining).  When I called Pampers and asked about any/every difference between the two, they said that was really the only difference (they claimed no difference in cut, or chemicals used in the diapers).

If it turns out you don't like the baby dry, definitely call (don't email) Pampers and tell them you're having trouble with the diapers - they'll likely send you coupons worth the value of what you paid for your box to replace them :)  (very good customer service).
