2 bummers:
I POAS this morning and it was negative.
I signed A up for a music class and my sister, who watches her, gets to take her. I wish I could do things like this with her....I hate work.
Posititve:
I have angel food cake, whipped cream, and strawberries for lunch.
Question:
Have you made the "big' Thanksgiving dinner yet? How did it go? What was your biggest challenge?
Re: Two bummers + 1 positive + 1ish question
Sorry it was -
Mmmm cake
Yes I hosted TG last year. It was a disaster, FIL and SMIL came and were mega doooshes. They only spend 45 minutes at our house after we left family TG early and drove 3 hours home to host them for TG. Also my oven element broke and I didn't know it, It took 10 hours to cook a 24 lb turkey. (way to big)
I will not be hosting TG again. If we don't go to family's house. We'll be buying a small turkey and doing it just the 4 of us
Sorry the test was negative. And I'm sorry that you don't get to do the music class with A.
Mmm cake though! That sounds delicious!
And last year we did a mini hotel kitchen thanksgiving, but did a full Thanksgivingish meal at Christmas for my husbands family. I think it went ok, but it had it's mini dramas. We were at their house, but he did the cooking. His mom didn't like some of the stuff that we did and they didn't like our canned cranberry sauce and the fact that he used canned yams instead of fresh. I was really ready to leave by the time we left!
I'm sorry.
No, I haven't done a big Thanksgiving dinner, and I don't see one in my immediate future.
Sorry.
I hear you. Blah.
Mmm cake.
Yes, I've made it before. I was like 26 weeks pregnant or something so it was not ideal but I did a ton of planning. I'm sort of a freak about that kind of stuff, so I had a Word doc with my prep schedule, all my recipes, etc. It went well. There are a few things I minimally messed up but no one noticed/cared.
Sorry for your BFN. I figured that would be your positive!
I totally feel you on the music class thing. My mom and MIL keep DD while I work. She just started MMO a couple of weeks ago and I don't get to do drop off or pick up because I'm at work. The first three weeks she cried and clung at drop off but was happy and playing when they picked her up. I feel like, since I'm her mom, I should be the one she's clinging to. But yesterday, she went in, sat down and started playing like a pro! Of course, I didn't get to see it, so whatever. At least she's happy and having fun.
Question: I have not hosted Thanksgiving. I won't get to do anything like that until my mom and MIL pass away, which is hopefully a really REALLY long time from now.
Sorry about the -.
Classes for LOs definitely cater to the stay at home parent crowd. It drives me nuts. My kid would like to take tumbling too, but there's only one class on a weekend with 10 spots at our rec center. It filled up within minutes of open registration.
I've hosted Thanksgiving 5 out of the 6 years we've been married. I love doing it. The biggest challenge is getting all the dishes hot at the same time with only one oven.
