Cloth Diapering

Grovia hybrids/AI2s

We have some flips and like them okay. I need a few more diapers and are thinking about trying Grovia hybrids. Anyone here use them and love or hate them? Here's a few things I don't like about flips:

1. When I'm changing DD just on the floor or couch, if I'm just changing the insert, I can't just set it down because pee will get on whatever I set it on. I'm thinking about getting the stay dry Grovia soakers with the tpu backing so seems like that would be better.

2. A flip cover only last up to two inserts even if she only pees. The edges of the flip get wet by the second one and she will leak if we don't put her in a new cover. I'm hoping the leg gussets on the Grovia soakers would help with this.

3. The inserts on the flips bunch up so much between her legs the the microfiber is directly on her skin. I don't know if the Grovia's will be any different here.

  • I love my grovia,I use the stay dry inserts, they adsorb a lot and I don't have to change the cover to often, those with my Gdiapers are perfect for going out, also i don't have problem when I hang them for drying,I just turn it on the other side, I put a pen on between to keep them open, and they will get dry in less than 8 hrs.If you dry on dryer make sure to flip them,so that way they will dry fast.

  • I don't use the Grovia inserts (or Flip inserts for that matter), just the shells as covers for prefolds. But, I love the Grovia covers. They won't for many changes because the shells have a mesh inside that will get wet. However, the fit is fantastic, IMO, and the aplix is awesome. I thought all aplix was the same before I got Grovias. I don't know how to describe it but it works great.

  • I've finally decided that I love these the most out of all my diapers. The TPU backed soakers are perfect for what you describe (and one reason fitteds/prefolds didn't make my husband happy, the soaky nastiness bothered him). The mesh doesn't get wet because of the backing, so I only change the shells every few changes when they either soak them too much or they get poop on them. Except for poop issues, I would only go through a shell or two a day per baby. They don't bunch up at all so far, but my babies aren't mobile yet (3 months). The only thing I'm worried about is them being able to hold enough wetness when the babies get older. It seems that I need to change them every 2.5 hours or so now and they're still quite small. But we shall see, worst case I switch back to some sort of pockets.

  • These are our favorite diapers. IMO all the problems you have with flips should be solved by the grovias. We keep the grovias ready to go, and alternate between 2 covers throughout the day. I love how I can still get them without bunching even when DD2 flips over in the middle of a change since the inserts snap in.
