Update on Twins...5 1/2 month NICU stay.

Hey guys...I posted about a month ago..

My little girl Zoey is finally home after 5 1/2 months in the NICU.  She was born with an Esophageal Atresia.

The girls are now 6 months old today and I can not believe it!!

Just curious...have any other moms had really preemie babies that needed ECI?  My little girls weren't that premature, but because of Zoey's really long NICU stay we are having ECI come out to work with her...any positive or negative feedback on this??

I made a slideshow for their first 6 months. ejoy! =)

  • So glad she's home!
Our boys were full-term but one of them needed Early Intervention (guessing that's the same as ECI) starting at 2.5 for several delays. Good experience overall; it's helped him a lot!

  • Yay! I'm so glad she's home.

My boys were born at 29w4d and spent two months in the NICU. They have been receiving PT through ECI since they came home and will be having an OT evaluation soon. I love ECI!

  • The triplets were 31 weekers, with no real issues. One has been in EI since 18 months for speech delay. It is pretty minor but I am glad we got started working on it when we did so it didn't get worse.

  • Big congrats on her homecoming!  My boys had an EI evaluation and other therapy evaluations but never did qualify for services.  If I remember correctly, you are in Texas right?
  • I'm glad Zoey is finally home with everyone....congrats!!!  It's been a long time coming.

  • congrats on having them home!  They are really cute!  My good friend's son was born with EA.  He is almost 2 and doing great-he sometimes has to get a dialation done but that is it.

  • We have EI coming out twice a week for our 25 weekers. It's been great so far and they get us really involved in showing how to help the babies get stronger.

  • Caden was in the EI program due to very low birth weight, no developmental delays, just an automatic in.  I LOVED it.  They came once a month and it was so great to have people to bounce ideas off of.  My girls were the type of babies who needed help with every single milestone - rolling over, clapping, sitting up, crawling.  Without EI, I'm not sure how I would have done it.  They gave me little tips that helped us so much!
  • You are such a strong MoM!! I can't imagine how hard it was for you to have them apart for so long. Congratulations on finally having your precious babies together!! Great slide show too. Beautiful girls & many more firsts to come having them both home with you. Enjoy, they grow up too fast.

  • Omgosh you poor thing.  Do you feel like you just ran a marathon?  Hugs!  My son was in the hospital for 4 months and started early intervention about a month after coming home.  He just turned 2 and the therapist said he's almost totally caught up to other kids his age.  They are just working on the little nuances that most people wouldn't even notice.

Don't worry- with ECI, your daughter will catch up!

  • congrats on everyone being home!
