1st Trimester

oh joy, I've gained 15 pounds in 8 weeks...

Im hoping this will be a temporary thing, as now I have my energy back and can begin exercising again, but I know 15 pounds in 2 months is NOT good...and, I've been soooooo good with what I am eating, small meals, healthy snacks, etc etc...I just know my Dr. will have something to say.... :-( but, I think if I can get back to my workout, and maintain my good eating habits, I might be able to balance it out by the end of the 2nd tri....?

I brought this up to my doctor yesterday b/c I've also gained way more weight in first tri that I was comfortable with. I'm not eating like crazy, I still work out and it just happened. My doc said that my body remembers what to do from the last pregnancy and similar to last pregnancy I put on a lot of weight all at once in the beginning, but then it significantly slowed down. My doctor wasn't worried at all. Try to relax about it! (and yes get back to working out - you'll feel better!)

  • You will be able to balance it out. Just keep eating healthy and working out where you can, but not excessively, and you should be fine. :)
  • I had gained 20 lbs by 24 weeks and I was worried that I was going to go way over the recommended weight gain.  But in the last 8 weeks I've only gained another pound!  Some people just gain more at the start.  Try not to stress!

  • I had that happen during my first pregnancy and decided to accept that weigh is a part of pregnancy and resolved to be healthy instead of worry about the number of pounds.

This pregnancy I'm doing everything I possibly can to not gain weight.

  • At my appointment last week (at about 10.5 weeks), the scale showed I was up 7 lbs! But, it was in the late afternoon and I had eaten a big lunch, and I could tell I was so bloated (like always!) I weighed myself again this weekend, first thing in the morning, and was only up 3 lbs. So, take that into account - I think we're really retaining a lot of water, and that can make your weight fluctuate up to 5 lbs, even in the same day.

  • I think different women gain in different spurts.

Last time, I lost weight in the first tri but I gained an insane amount in second tri. It all added up to a fine overall gain.
