I've been trying to come up with a fun announcement to tell my parents, and I just can't come up with anything good. For my dad, we'll be taking him out to dinner for his birthday, so I was thinking of writing something in his card or something like that. For my mom, we're telling her right before driving to my aunt's house for Rosh Hashana dinner, so I can't come up with anything fun to tell her.
My MIL lives far away, so we'll be telling her over the phone. She has a rocking chair that has been in the family for generations, so we're going to tell her that I'm carrying the next generation to be rocked in the chair.
We're waiting to tell the rest of the family and friends until after the first trimester, so I have time for the fun big announcement.
My husband thinks it's silly to not just tell them outright, but I think it's more fun this way!! Any help is appreciated!!
Re: FTM - announcement ideas for the grandparents
This is what we did (its not the most original idea but it gets great reactions!)
So far we've given everyone a simple (blank) card and just said "saw this card and it made us think of you" most people get excited just for a special-no-reason-card! then we wrote...
"Some miracles take 9 moths congratulations Aunt/Uncle /Grand...XYZ. Cant wait to meet you!"
Love baby ABC!
This is our 3rd. I am thinking of taking a picture of our boys and my belly with the caption. I have always said Sam has the personality of a middle child and now he is going to be one.
I am just out right telling my parents and in-laws. My mom never has the reaction that I hope for so something cute would be lost on her.
Just FYI - this Sunday is Grandparent's Day. If you want to tell them soon, it might be a good time to let them know. We found out we were pregnant with DS the week before Grandparent's Day, so we called my MIL (out of state) to wish her "Happy Grandparent's Day." It took her a second to understand what we were saying and she was very excited.
Since we also just found out about this LO, I'll tell my dad and MIL this Sunday - might as well keep the tradition.
(I've already told my mom - I see her every few days and it was impossible to keep the secret!)
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I finally came up with something!!
