1st Trimester

Exhausted but insomnia?!?! Semi vent....

I'm so frustrated! I'm exhausted, so I go to bed fairly early. But then, once the clock hits 3 or 4am, I'm awake and can't fall back alseep. I made myself stay up latere than I wanted last night, but same thing. Anyone else having this frustration too????

Re: Exhausted but insomnia?!?! Semi vent....

  • Not exactly. I have not been sleeping really at all, but it's because if cramping and being unable to get comfortable. However, I do understand the frustration that comes with not sleeping. I end up feeling exhausted all day. I hope that this passes soon for you!
  • I?m having kind of the same problem; I can?t sleep for more than about 30min at a time. I wake up and can?t get comfortable so it takes forever to fall back asleep and then I?m awake again in 30 min. I used to have trouble sleeping before my BFP so I would take a sleeping pill once and a while. Is there anything that is safe to take now???

  • I can definitely relate! I don't sleep good to begin with but it has been really up and down. I am so tired during the day, worst in the afternoon, but I have trouble actually staying asleep when it is time to. And it is like this whether I have a little nap in the afternoon or not. Although I will say, some nights I have slept better than I have in years!

  • Same here.  I always go to bed around 9:30 and by 1 or 2 I'm wide awake and tossing and turning!  DH gets mad b/c i always end up in spare bedroom but I can't help it.  I wish I could sleep thru the night just once!!!!!!!!!!

  • First and third tri are the worst for sleeping.
Have you ever seen a pregnant ninja?
  • That was me before... now I'm still exhausted but sleeping like a BABY. A few weeks ago, when I woke up to pee, it would take me hours to fall back asleep. Now I barely even open my eyes and I'm asleep again in a flash.

My doc and just about every single pregnancy website recommends Unisom Doxylamine Succinate tablets for sleep issues (ask your doc about it). It's worked wonders for me! Especially since I work 50 hour work weeks. I'm always exhausted.

I hope it gets better for you!

  • I am having the same problem!! I really don't want to take anything for my insomnia but I'm not sure how long I can go on no sleep.
