Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I Have to take LO to MY Dr. Appointment...

I have been trying to find someone to babysit for over a week now.. No one is able to and the one person who is able/willing; we dont want watching DD(long story.) The only option I have is to take DD with me. I cant reschedule the appointment because it took me 2.5 weeks to get it. Its an appointment for a bronchial specialist not like a cough cough I'm sick Dr. So there shouldn't be a lot of sick people there.

The concern is that: My last appointment with them lasted 3 hours, That was the  initial appointment with all the testing. This time its just to discuss how my treatments have been working(which they haven't) so I have no idea how long it will take. Also DD is practically walking full time now and doesn't want to be held much. She's walking most of the time but will get tired and crawl. She always wants to be one the floor doing something if were just idling there.. She'll be content in her stroller if we're moving but if we stop for a little bit she'll fuss to get out.

Obviously I'm not a huge fan of letting her crawl on the floor at the Dr. office but I know for sure at some point she will end up there? Should I just take a chill pill and if it happens it happens, Just bring a butt load of wipe and hand sanitizer?

Of course I'm going to brin g a lot of toys and snacks, also my ipod w/ movies and baby games.. Any  other suggestions on how to keep her entertained and off the floor?

 TIA

Re: I Have to take LO to MY Dr. Appointment...

  • I took DD1 to at least half of my appts while I was pregnant with DD2 (she was about 11 months the first time I took her to an appt). I let her out of the stroller in the waiting room to bounce/climb on the chairs and my lap, but kept her in the stroller in the exam room. Getting down on the floor was not an option, and if she got too fussy in the stroller I held her in my lap. I brought a lot of quiet toys and books, and when those weren't working then I brought out a snack and sippy cup. I made sure the snack was something she really loved and would get excited about, and her sippy usually had juice, which is a treat to her.

  • When I've had to have LO in a situation like that I usually flip through a magazine or something with her.
