My lo's had BM exclusively for 7-8 months then switched to half BM half formula and eventually to straight formula with no issues. We are trying to get rid of bottles and are down to just a bottle in the morning when they wake up and one before bed.
I've been trying to get them to drink milk out of a sippy for about a month now with no luck. They will not drink it and just throw the cup or completely ignore it. The pedi said not to put milk in their bottles as to not associate milk with bottles but for the past week or so I've been mixing 2 oz of milk with 4 oz of formula in the am bottle and they are drinking it fine. (They love water in sippys too, but won't drink juice either)
I'm at a loss on how to get them to drink milk. How did you get your lo's to drink it? They are getting plenty of calcium through cheese and yogurt.
Sorry for rambling, any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!
Re: Will not drink milk. Help!!
My neighbor had this problem. What ended up working for her was getting straw sippy cups for the milk (water/juice was in regular sippys) and putting ice cubes in it, they loved to hear them clink around. She made milk ice cubes.
Some stuff she tried: serving warm milk, room temp. milk, different sippy cups than what they used for juice, soft top, hard top, open cups (while sitting only).
She picked something, say a new sippy, and tried everything. One day it was room temp., the next day in the same cup it was warm, then with ice, etc. until she found the magic one that worked for her kids.
Good Luck! I hope you find the answer soon.
