O came down with a pretty nasty cold at the end of the last week. He woke up Friday morning very congested and a runny nose.
Saturday/Sunday he had a low grade fever-nothing some tylenol couldn't handle and started with a cough. H and I both got whatever germ he brought home from school and have been sick all week too. H and I are starting to feel much better (we got sick Monday) but O is still really congested, still has a runny nose, no more fever, but his cough is terrible (not croupe-like but deep and tight sounding).
So, should I call the pedi or just let the cold run its course. This is really the first time he has been sick since he was born-he had an ear infection with his molars-but this is the fiirst virus-like illness.
TYIA!
So O had the start of an ear infection and a sinus infection. I am glad I didn't let it go over the weekend.
Thanks mamas.
Re: To Call or Not to Call (the pedi)? UPDATED
Our pedi has a "if it persists for 3 days, call/come in" rule that has been pretty helpful for us. Chances are, if something persists or gets worse over a few days its there to stay for a bit and needs a boot in the azz to get cleared up.
I hope he feels better! Those chesty coughs are the worst.

Do you have a nurses' line you could call and ask whether an apopntment seems necessary?
They might just ask you to come in, but they may just say to treat the symptoms, too.
This was my rationale behind the post.
Sometimes I feel like when I call-which is not often-they act like I am some kind of crazy FTM calling over every sniffle. I think I have called a grand total of 6 times in almost 2 years.
Once was thrush, once was an ear infection, once was a leg infection caused by a shot they gave him, he was fine the other 3 times, but still.
I did just call. They want to see him at 1. Short Friday for this Mama.
More than a week + Friday before a holiday weekend = I would call
ETA - just saw you did. Hope you're all feeling better soon!
I always call if it's before a long weekend. I'd rather pay the sick visit copay and find out it's nothing than pay the ER visit copay to find out it's nothing a few days later.
I hope he feels better and he shakes it soon.
