It went well. I guess. I was fine surprisingly. He was fine. When we picked him up at noon we walked in and he was being held by his teacher in the rocking chair and he was sobbing. BAD. He saw me and cried harder. Turns out he refused the bottle. Weird because he gets a bottle every day from DH at night. The days we have gone out a few hours he takes the bottle from MIL or my friend or whoever! Two different teachers tried. he napped in the crib at 8:30 which is an hour later than when he was due for nap. They said he wouldn't sleep at 7:30. When he woke he ate breakfast. All of it. An hour later he refused the bottle for two hours. He even refused it when I got there. He nursed in the car and took some bottle. I asked them to try instead to give him the bottle after his nap before solids. I'd rather him have the bottle than solids.
Anyway, this is normal right? He just needs to get to know the teachers and the environment? His weight percentiles have been dropping due to a reflux spike and his solids pickiness. We see a GI and a dietician but nothing can force a bottle on a baby! I am just wondering if there's something I should do different? I'm hoping he will nurse their with me at 7am. Then have a bottle every three hours making it only 2 bottles and my DH picks him up at 3. I will be home at 4 to nurse him. Does it make sense to tell them bottle before solids? The GI said the bottle is way more important.

Re: Daycare trial and need advice
Yes! Normal. My LO loves to eat and he refuses bottles at dc sometimes. He even did it again when he went back after summer break. It lasted about 2 days. They always try the bottle before solids, but sometimes he does better with it while he eats his finger food in his high chair. Can he old his own? Maybe have them try to give it to him in a high chair. About naps, LO is all over tha map with naps at DC. I'm just glad if he takes two a day. They try to get them to go down about the same time, but it hardly ever works.
He will get into the swing of things, it will just take time. My LO came home with his first boo boo yesterday. hope tomorrow is better. It's hard, I understand.

To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.
Great idea about trying the sippy cup. I hoped my son would take a sippy cup at daycare so the transition away from bottle at a year would be easier.
I've heard wrapping the mother's shirt (unwashed) around the bottle sometimes helps the baby take it. Although in your case it seems more complex since other people give him a bottle without a problem.
I hope things get better for you.
Just give it some time and everyone will learn what will work best for him. He was probably overstimulated from a new environment, new people, different schedule, etc. Like pp said, he will take the bottle when he is truly hungry, and since he took the first one you know he will take it from others. I would definitely tell them to do bottles before solids and see if that helps. I had to change DD's eating schedule around for daycare because she wouldn't take full bottles, and now it's better.
Her naps are also totally different at daycare- better than home actually. At home, she takes a 30 min or so nap every 2 1/2 hours. AT daycare she naps for like 20 mins around 10 when they are out for their walk and then naps for 2 hours from 12:30-2:30. My daycare lady says she is happy the whole time she is up and is entertained by all the kids. I figure if it works for everyone I am leaving it.
Just give it some time, eventually everyone will adjust. My son takes breast milk from a sippy really well when my mom watches him. She puts him in his highchair and gives him the milk when she is feeding him solids. He will usually take all of the 3 ounces from the sippy (which is what he will take from a bottle).
WHen I was first back to work sometimes he would only take like 6 ounces of milk the ENTIRE 9 hours I was gone (and this was when he was EBF, no solids yet) but eventually he started taking more and more.
Try not to stress
Everything will be fine!
