I think it's very sweet.

I think sweet little plant names may be due for a moment with the popularity of the Hunger Games books/movies. Not everyone will go for Rue and Prim, but I can see the other short, soft botanicals having a day in the sun.

Hmmm. Toughy. I'm inclined to like it.... buuuut... here's my reservation:

It's one of those names that could either make or break someone, you know? If your LO struggles at all at school with making friends, or with learning, etc, then having a name like Fern might be the deal breaker that puts her in the "loser" category. BUT if she manages to be more popular, and is one of the cool kids, then that name would make her stand out in a good way. So... the question is... do you risk it? I say no.
