This might be flameful, but anyway....
How "large" would you have to be to not notice that you're "growing"? I mean if you are very large do you not get a baby belly at all? Does the baby just grow and you don't get any bigger? I just can't fathom going 9 months and being PG and not knowing that you are PG until you go to the hospital with "stomach pains" and then deliver a full term baby.
Re: s/o Not knowing you're PG
I don't get it either. I am huge here at 15 weeks, been so ridiculously tired and sick as well.
I do have a friend who is about 9 days further along then me on her 3rd child and you can not tell at all. She has been terribly sick as well though, so that would tip her off if nothing else.
Well dh said that this particular woman is about 350 lbs. He also said that she has been complaining about her health for months, but was afraid to go to the doctor because he thought she had something really bad wrong with her.
I would have known by week 14...that was when my bloat turned to a very distinct baby belly.
Well, honestly I had no real symptoms of pregnancy until the kicking started.
I had lost about 20 pounds before I got pregnant. I started gaining weight, but at first just thought I was gaining back the weight that I lost. I never really wore maternity clothes -- I just went up a size or two in regular clothes.
I missed my period, but I've always had irregular periods -- sometimes I wouldn't get one for months.
I had been told by numerous doctors that I was infertile, so I never thought much about birth control.
I had no nausea, dizzines, or other pregnancy symptoms.
I took a pregnancy test on a whim, more than anything. I could have easily made it to about 7 months without thinking I was pregnant.
I can see how larger women with a history of menstrual irregularity could possibly not know they were pregnant.
I had absolutely no m/s with my pg. I only gained 15 pounds the entire time. My starting weight was 180 lbs. I didn't show until about 34 weeks.
The women on the tv shows looked to be in the 200-220 range so I can see how they would never really show. And most of those women were large chested to begin with and I don't think they would notice a change between DDD to E.
Denial is a powerful thing I think.
There is no way I could've missed my pregnancies. I knew I was pg before POAS even, and we were not exactly ttc either time.
My maternity shirts stopped covering my belly by about week 33... there is no way I could've missed or hide my pg from anyone!
I guess I could see how some might not realize they are pregnant the first half of their pregnancy. I knew right away, but I was never sick and didn't show much at first because I'm pretty tall. However I really don't get how people miss the movement (I have anterior placenta and I can totally feel this guy moving) and the other symptoms (changes in their breasts, exhaustion, ect...). And seriously I am not a tiny girl, but it's very obvious that I am pregnant. I really don't know how big someone would have to be to not notice a change. I agree with the previous post that denial probably had a large factor in such cases.?
With DD, I never looked pregnant. Only one person tenatively ask me if I was pregnant and he was my BIG boss and probably had signed off on my leave form, so may have known. When I was 34 weeks, a man sent a bucket of beers to my table because he thought I was hot (and obviously not pregnant). I did gain a lot of weight, but I never felt DD kick. I never had morning sickness. My only symptom was being tired and larger than normal chest.
This time, I had all the symptoms and feel the baby, though people still don't ask me if I am pregnant.
I know a lady who didn't know that she was pregnant until 23 weeks. She, like me, is very tall, she was on birth control that prevents periods (seasonal), she didn't feel the baby, didn't feel sick, and didn't gain a ton of weight. She found out at her regular GYN appointment, when they told her she either had a tumor or was pregnant.
Wow. That's pretty insulting.
I started out this pregnancy in that weight range, with boobs that size. You can sure as hell tell that I am pregnant.
