So I read a blog called Next Stop Baby and she did a post today on how she looked at the #1 boys and girls name in each state and used them to predict the top names of 2012. However she brought to my attention that the #1 boys name in Iowa is Security. No joke.  WTH?

This is an updated site...she said that it updates frequently but she can't figure out whether it is daily, weekly, or monthly but she is lead to believe it is updated daily from hospitals. So its not behind like the SSA site is. Here is the link to the blog post and then the site she is using for this information: Baby Namescape.

It also says that the #2 girls name is Security. I highly doubt that it is accurate.

That's based on Our365, which is one of the companies that takes newborn photos in the hospital.  It doesn't list every birth, just the ones who use their service.  I'm betting Security is what they use when the parents haven't picked a name yet.

FYI, some states/hospitals list baby names as "Security" for privacy reasons.

I highly doubt that website is accurate.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Hilarious that the blogger took that as literally the top name!
