my most ambitious meal ever

I'm cooking my first whole chicken. The gibblets were not in a bag so ew. I hope I got them all. It is now in the crockpot and will probably make for a late dinner but I'm proud of myself for finally tackling something so intimidating.

  • Woohoo, go Linz! Crockpot chicken is the best, so tender and moist.

  • I for one am proud of you. I have cooked one whole chicken my whole life and I will never do it again. I can't eat them either. Yuck!

But I hope your dinner turns out great! ;]

  • Yum! I love cooking whole chicken!

I have yet to buy a chicken with the innards in a bag.

H grilled a chicken the other day, so yummy!

I did one in the oven, that required LOTS of turning. Like ever 30 mins I had to turn it so that it wouldn't dry out. That was exhausting.

I also have a rotisserie that I never use, but once or twice and that was good too!

I hope yours comes our delicious!

  • Yay! I've never made a chicken in the crock pot(i didn't even know you could put a whole chicken in a crock pot, haha). but I've roasted so many. If you want to get really ambitious keep the bones afterwards and make a nice big batch of chicken stock to freeze. That's one of the reasons I make whole chickens or always cook chicken on the boneWink

Let us know how it turns out!

That's what finally motivated me to do it. Chicken soup is the only thing my friends sick h can eat that I can make and she wont eat college inn broth. :

Does this mean there is enough for me to come over? Stick out tongue

Definitely. Its a pretty fat chicken. I'm thinking there is enough to use for dinners the rest of the week.

And Q is getting his first homemade chicken dinner with mashed potatoes tonight. or tomorrow night, depending on when it gets done. Yay!
