Wake up to pump?

DS is starting to occassionally sleep through the night. He's had 3 nights this past week that he's slept through the night. When I wake up I'm so engorged and in pain that I usually have to pump one side before I can feed him. I'm thinking about setting an alarm for halfway through the night and waking up to pump. Then if DS wakes up right after I can always just give him the bottle I just pumped. Does anybody do this right now?

  • I did this for a while but sleep won out eventually.  If you really need the extra milk then do it otherwise I say sleep and in a few days your supply will regulate.

Right now I'm pumping a few oz less at work than he's eating at daycare, so I have been pumping in the evenings. I think if I woke up and pumped, and he didn't eat it, then I could cut out that extra pumping I do at night before bed time.

  • If you need the pumped BM then go for it, but sleep is oh so nice!

Make sure your daycare isn't overfeeding too.
