So, I'm starting my first round of Clomid tomorrow...50mg. What should I know? What did everyone experience that the doc didn't tell you? My doc said to expect hot flashes and mood swings (which will DEFINITELY want to make DH have sex with me, lol).

 How bad are the hot flashes? I know this is a weird question...but what do they feel like? Will I know it's a hot flash? 

I'm nervous, optimistic, scared & hopeful. :-

Dont be scared.

 Hot flashes will feel like you instantly get hot. (like when youre embarrassed or very angry and your body just gets hot as a reaction) I had mild cramping that was more annoying than anything.

I just had the hot flashes. You will FOR SURE know them when you feel them, instant heat that radiates through your body and then gone in a minute or two and you're freezing afterwards I take my clomid at night and usually got the hot flashes after I was done taking them for a week or so.

I took 100 mg of clomid and I had very bad hot flashes especially at night.  I didn't have any mood swings but I felt like crying a lot.  Trust me you'll know its a hot flash lol good luck!!!

Hot flashes and cramping were the only symptoms that I have had. I had the hot flashes at night and then would always be FREEZING right after. I just slept with a fan and then had lots of blankets around as well. Good luck. I hope this works for you. :-)

Don't assume you'll get any side effects.  If you look up the incidence of side effects of Clomid, only like 10% of women get hot flashes and about 5% got mood swings.  Once I saw that, I felt much better. I experienced no side effects on 50 mg.  We'll see how 100 mg goes this month.  Good luck and hopefully you'll have no problems!

I have done four rounds of clomid starting at 50mg all the way up to 150mg and I have not experienced any side effects. The only time I ever got a hot flash was this cycle with my trigger shot... Best of luck

I didn't have any s/e from 50mg of Clomid, except maybe being more emotional, but that may have been because I put too much stock in my first IUI cycle. I had more s/e from the trigger than anything. GL, you'll be fine, don't be nervous!

I had some random cramping and some night sweats, but it was mild. I had a very demanding travel schedule during the 3 cycles of clomid and it did not slow me down, and my moods were stable. Good Luck : )

I didn't find 50mg bad.  Some headaches, but I have migraines frequently anyways.  I didn't really notice the hot flashes all that badly until 150mg.  I think it probably varies person to person.  All in all I didn't find it that bad.  Good luck Sarah!

I actually had no side effects. I hope you are just as lucky.

I only had minor side effects on 50 mg. of Clomid - I was over emotional for a few days.  On 100 mg. I had some hot flashes.  It just felt like I was really hot and my face got red and I started to sweat.  It would only last a few minutes and it only lasted a few days (maybe 1-2 hot flashes/day).  Another side effect that I had on the 100 mg. was head aches.  They were not aweful but I did get a head ache several days after I was finished with the Clomid.  GL!

I don't think I had many side effects on that dosage. 

 

With the 150 dosage I had the hot flashes, generally mine would hit in the middle of the night and my poor DH had to freeze through them because I'd toss all the blankets.  Also the headaches, wowza...first round on that dosage was rough but thereafter my body adjusted. 

 

I have always had a rough time adjusting to raging hormones though and was told by my RE that I'm one of the lucky (read sarcasm) that gets to experience the fun-ness of side effects.

I just finished my first round of 100mg of clomid and I have had some hot flashes and irritability/over emotional. Day 4 of taking it I had vision spots for 510 minutes but I read that can be from going from a dark room to a bright room and it happened when I first woke up and went out to the living room. I also had some cramping but nothing too bad.

I'm on round 2 of clomid right now. I haven't had hot flashes, but I do get dizzy the first few days I take it. And crampy around O time. My CM seemed fine last time I took it, but this round there was a lot less than usual. Not a good side effect if you're doing TI, but we're on to IUIs now. I'm extremely irritable during the 2ww on clomid, too. Lots of fun for everyone around me right now!

I had no side effects on 5 days of 100mg.  When they put me on 5 more days (due to poor response), I was fine for the first 3 days and then on the 4th and 5th nights I had unusually bad (for me) insomnia.  I was wired when I should have been sleepy.  This was not listed as a side effect on any of the literature I was given, but I swear it was Clomid-related.  I have a friend who had the same experience and I had some Google validation too.

Still -- if all I got was 2 nights of insomnia after 10 days of Clomid, I consider myself pretty lucky.
