So I'm due march 12 and I wanted to get opinions on if having a baby shower in february is too close?the reason I ask so soon is because of a whole bunch of holidays comming up.
I'm in the same boat as you! My due date in March 15th and I initially wanted the baby shower in January, but everyone said that is right after Christmas so that wouldn't be a good time. So then I was thinking about the middle of February and so far that is working around the holidays, my due date, and everyone elses schedule. But I don't know if I should do it way earlier or just leave it at the date it is now. Because, If I go into labor a few weeks early.. Ya know? So, I understand where you are coming from.
Yes I'm worried that because my first one was 2 weeks over due that this one might come super early, if not I'm suppose to get induced so I'm a little nervous about this baby shower
I had my shower a month before I was due and went into labor the next morning. My house was a complete mess and absolutely nothing was ready. Obviously, this doesn't happen to most people, especially with their first babies. But what about having it in late January instead?

I don't think late in January is too close to Christmas. January is actually a pretty boring month with the only real holiday being New Year's Day. Besides the fact that it could equal three feet of snow for me, I think January is a good month for something like a shower.
Due March 11th and also didn't want to cut it too close by having one in February. So we picked late January, and invites are going to go out shortly after Christmas. I know it is close to Christmas, but I would really like to have some time to organize the nursery and relax as much as possible up to due date.
I guess it would depend on what was convenient for the hostess.
This. My guess is that if someone throws us a shower, it will be the week between Christmas and New Year's since that's is the time that we'll be back around our family, who all live 400-750 miles away from us.
I can see being sensitive to Holiday Season because there are lots of other parties and gatherings that might conflict with a shower date. However, in regard to money/finances, I think that if close friends and family know you are pregnant (esp. if it's your first) they'll probably anticipate that there will be a shower for you and that they'll be needing to get you a gift if they'd like to attend. As long as your host sends out the invitations early enough, I don't see why that isn't enough time for people to budget for a shower gift and holidays.
