We've had a boy name picked out forever..like 6 years, but had 2 girls. So if this one is a boy, if DH agrees to it, I would like to add in my dad's middle name too. I'm am not usually fond of naming my kids after family members, but he is the only person I would consider doing it for bc he has had such an impact on me and it's a decent name. (Thomas) Plus most of our other family members have really old sounding names that we would not want to use.

I love that it would have family significance too. I think it makes the name more special. And I love the name Thomas. I actually gave my son two middle names because of that. His first middle name is Richard because of my grandfather. He has been there for me my whole life, more like a father than a grandfather.
Thanks, I'll find out in 17 days what the sex is. Then if it's a boy, I'll run it by DH.
The name would be: Riker Logan Thomas Glenn
(I know most people are not a fan of Riker, but we still love it, I prefer it spelled Ryker, but DH will not budge on the spelling and we live in Florida, so the prison reference isn't really an issue, and no we are not naming our kid after a prison. I think it's more of a Star Trek reference if anything in our case, even though DH denies it lol)

lol I wouldn't have even known there was a prison named that. But I love the name and I think it flows well.
Do you live in the US? I live in Alabama and I know of the prison.

I didn't know of it until I watched Law & Order, lol.
I live in Canada and that's how I know about it. They send someone to Riker's, or have those title cards pop up that state the scene takes place at Riker's, in just about every episode.
IMO, yes. I think one should be very even handed with things like this. Why does #4 suddenly get an extra name? I'd just worry it would backfire on me in the future.

I think it's nice that you want to honor your father. However, it's always bothered me when I hear that people have two middle names. Can you just replace the original middle name with Thomas? Not to mention, the PPs may have a good point about the other children wondering why the newest LO gets to have two names.
That being said, whatever floats your boat. Do what you want.

We are very attached to Logan so replacing that isn't an option. I don't even know if DH will go for it, I guess I will just wait til we find out the sex before I go into any heavy thinking, it won't even matter if we have a 3rd girl.

DH has two middle names (his father's name, and his maternal grandmother's maiden name). Since his maternal grandmother's maiden name wasn't carried on, my FIL wanted to incorporate it into DH's name. So if we have a boy, we will be doing the same. Actually if we have a son, his two middle names, and last name will be the same as DH...but won't have DH's first name (DH doesn't want a junior, even though I'd be OK with that because I love DH's name - Adam)
Wow, that was a lot

DS has 2 middle names, one for each grandfather. It would have only been one, but the other felt left out.
Agreed.
