  • we did one yesterday for the same reason. didn't cure it, but definitely seemed to help soothe her during and for a while after.

  • I have never used an oatmeal bath for diaper rash but I have terrible eczema and when it is at it worst the only thing that seems to give me even minimal relief will be oatmeal baths.

I say it is worth a shot cause it shouldn't do any additonal harm.

  • Try the oatmeal bath.  If it doesn't work, blot some maalox (yes the stuff for your stomach) on your baby's tush and then put a layer of triple paste on top.  It works!!

  • I'm all about natural remedies and DS has a HORRIBLE rash too, so I was just googling and saw that baking soda in the oatmeal bath works well too. Unfortunately I don't have any baking soda so were just doing an oatmeal bath tonight. I'm also going to get some colloidal silver from my mom and use that too. And I'm going with AD since it's very soothing after the bath.
  • I tried to give DD an oatmeal bath tonight, she wasn't having it. she refused to sit in the water! she loves baths, but wanted out!

  • Oatmeal baths and naked time really help for my LO!  The rash is usually much better the next day. Just let her sit in the bath for 15 minutes and pat it dry after.  If you are going to make your own, you need to blend it into a fine powder (you can use a food processor)

I hope your LO feels better!

I just read about the baking soda ...  and it worked really well for us.  I am hoping that DS doesn't get another case of diaper rash, but if he does, I'll try the oatmeal too.

OP - hoping your little one feels better soon!

  • I do baking soda in B's baths when he's rashy. I also just started using coconut oil for his last rash. At every diaper change, I make sure he's completely dry (fan his tush with the diaper and if he's still for long enough a little more air time), then I soak a cotton ball in coconut oil and dap it all over his tush.
