NBR: Christmas Shopping

Have any of you already started on your Christmas shopping yet? I think my c/s will be like the day or 2 after Christmas and I'm trying to get started. If you have any ideas about what to buy DH let me know b/c it's him I'm stuck on. DD will be getting a dollhouse and a few small items but DH has me stumped. Hmph.

We usually start shopping by the end of August, we've already been asked for Christmas list by both sets of parents.

I actually thought about this during my commute into work today! I'm due 1/12-but have no idea how i'll feel those final weeks.  I think I want to start my x-mas shopping NOW so that I have everything in case LO comes early; or I just don't feel up to walking around a mall.

I have no idea what to get my DH either!  I might just do some shirts & cologne.

I just bought some funny undies for H yesterday since the site was having a half off for one day sale. Now i have to figure out where I am going to hide everything until Christmas. Last year, I did this and found a gift that I had hidden in March. Whoops.

I just started my Christmas lists for everyone over the weekend! DS will be super easy, as always and DH will be super hard.... I wish I could give yuo some ideas but I dont even have any for my own DH!

I just started knitting DH a pair of socks and hope to have them finished around Christmas. It's my first time doing socks, so I wanted to give myself time to have to rip it all out and start over if I mess up. I tend to go with homemade things for Christmas. He knows I'm knitting them though, so I'll probably get one or two other small things that'll be more of a surprise.

This year we are doing homemade gifts (Hot fudge, caramels, other delicious gourmet treats), but we have started buying ingredients when they are on sale. I have also started making my gift bags and gift tags.

lol no...I don't start shopping until after Thanksgiving and since I'm not due until mid January I see no reason to start shopping now.

I will be starting soon!  DD1 was due in February and even then I made sure to have all my shopping done early.  I was glad I did because my last few months of pregnancy I had no patience and I would spontaneously start sweating out of nowhere whenever I was in a store or a mall, it was horrible.  Plus, I think DD was sitting on my tailbone or something because by then I couldn't stand very long without feeling a lot of pain.  This time I am due Jan 10 so I will be getting everything done really early!

We've been keeping our eyes peeled. I honestly believe all of my shopping will get done during the online pre-black friday deals.

DH and I are upgrading our TV so that will be our gift to each other. DH's birthday is 4 days after Christmas, so I am going to buy a cake early (ice cream) and keep it in the freezer. I think we're keeping it small this year.

Christmas shopping this year is going to be tricky since my maternity leave is unpaid and we have to pay our health care premiums for the 3 months I'm out upfront. Most likely we will be giving gift cards since I don't see myself shopping very pregnant during the holiday season.

I have started my Christmas list and have actually picked up three gifts already!! Haha. I know I'll be doing a ton of shopping online this year. It's just so much easier. I love Amazon Prime!

We have picked up a few things right now, but nothing major.  We weren't necessarily trying, we just came across perfect things for certain people. Pretty soon I will work on lists of what to get people, we shop for a minimum of 22 people (not including each other) so it gets overwhelming at times.

No shopping yet, but I've started planning, and letting family know we need to draw names and get lists early this year. I hope to have Christmas and DS's b-day (Jan. 5th) done before Thanksgiving. Normally I don't do any shopping until after Thanksgiving, so this is a big change for me.

 Wow! I thought our list was bad!  We shop for our nieces and nephews (5 total) of course, but with DH's siblings that have kids...we all agreed to buy for the kids and not each other.  We quit buying for friends too once we all had kids.

 

I plan on hopefully starting early. DD's big gift will be a dollhouse as well.  I will probably do most of our shopping online. I LOVE Amazon PRime too.

I am a huge slacker usually when it comes to Christmas shopping. Should probably start early this year.

As for DH, we have talked about instead of buying eachother a gift, that we are going to buy a DSLR camera (not a crazy expensive one). We have wanted one for a while, and I figure what better time to get a good camera than when we are expecting a new baby.

I normally do a majority of my Christmas shopping on Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) but due to baby I don't know if I'll have the energy or interest in doing so.

I've started thinking about it but I honestly have no idea what we'll do for Christmas. We really only buy for my mom, DH's parents, BIL and SIL. As far as a gift for each other, we might forgo them this year or buy a baby related item. I know we'll be watching our pennies as the year goes on.

Yupper!!!  I usually am pretty good and shop year round when I see things.  Last year I fell WAY behind and didn't start until Black Friday and I hated it.  This year it pretty much started the day after Christmas!  LOL  I honestly prefer to shop day after Christmas than Black Friday.  I found a few really cute "had to have" items for people and started putting them away.  I am a big sale shopper too.  I plan to make my mom a fleece tie blanket since she is the only one who doesn't have one, so when I got a coupon for JoAnns and fleece was on sale I took advantage!  I love Christmas shopping and enjoy wrapping it all even more!

It is seriously outrageous.  We do not buy for any friends.  I am one of 7, and because there are weird family situations with half siblings we don't do a name draw, so I buy for each of them.  I am the first to get married and have kids too so that does not include future spouses and nieces and nephews.   DH's family still buys for extended family.  It is just ridiculous. 

This year DH and I are not even exchanging gifts.  We know that December will be expensive with last minute baby purchases and buying for everyone else.

The past couple of years I've started right after Labor Day and been done by Thanksgiving. Definitely plan to do the same this year!
