Your host should send them out about 3 maybe 4 weeks prior. If they send them too early people are likely to lose it/forget, and too late will not be enough notice for a lot of people.

Thanks for the info girls... and no, definitely not planning my own shower My mom and aunts are planning it but my mom isn't very computer savvy so I'm in charge of ordering the invites...
haha... just reread my original post... I even said I'm planning my shower! Oh my goodness... this is what a full day of registering at Target & BRU, going to the doctors, chatting all day with my mom about the shower, prepping for the school year, and pregnancy brain does to someone... lol Whew! I meant to say my shower is either on Nov. 3rd or 4th depending on the hall. Ooooh boy.

Same deal with me. I just ordered the invitations last night on Tinyprints but my mom is actually hosting/planning the shower. It is Nov 4 and she wants replies by Oct 21 (2 wks before). So the invites will be sent late Sept/early Oct.
Your host should send the invites 3-4 weeks before the date. That way it gives people plenty of time to find a sitter, find a gift, make arrangements to come etc..

Yes Ma'm! Kicking my feet up for the remainder of the night
Invites for my shower will probably go out about 6 weeks before, but I have a very large family and several guests will have to travel to make it. I don't like receiving invites to anything less than a month prior, since most of my weekends are filled in advance.
Mine is the 3rd, my mom sent out the invites today because the place she booked to have it at needs to know how many people are coming by oct 1st. I also have a few out of towners wanted to give them some notice.
Re: When are invites being sent for shower?
Are you planning your own shower?
If you are, I would be prepared for some flames as it is a no-no.
With that being said, I believe invites are sent 4-5 weeks before the event.

3-4 weeks is plenty.
ETA: I'm going to a shower on Saturday and I just got the invitation last Tuesday. That's not enough time! lol
