1st Trimester

New due date = 2nd Trimester!

I went in for my U/S yesterday thinking I was 12 weeks and she informed me she measured baby at 13 weeks 6 days.  I guess that technically puts me in the 2nd trimester, but I'll probably be bouncing back and forth until I talk to my doctor on the 6th to see what he thinks.  I'm still at a loss that I'm so much further ahead than I anticipated.  I thought maybe a few days ahead, or even behind, but I'm almost said that I missed that short period of time!

  • From what my doctor told me on U/S, there is a +/- 5 day leeway when measuring the baby. When I went in at 7 weeks for my U/S, the baby ended up measuring around 6 weeks 4 days. Thinking that, I had thought that my due date had changed from March 9th to March 13th. But when I went back to the doctor this past Monday, he told me that because u/s are not 100% accurate, the doctors leave the due date alone. He said that as you progress through the pregnancy, due date measurements tend to be less accurate.

Thank you for this.  I haven't officially changed my date yet because I wanted to talk to my doctor first (9/6).  I just thought the week and a half difference was a lot!  I'm feeling a little lost now, to be honest because I don't know which week I should be reading about!  (I'm a little obsessive about it!  Smile)  I guess I'll just start reading about all three that I could potentially be in!  haha.

  • I wouldn't worry about the difference in size.  My LO measured 3 weeks ahead on each US we had.  I ended up delivering 2.5 weeks early, but knew my due date because of charting.
