Ok, so I'm clueless about this. We live in Central Florida where it has been somewhat cooler the past few days (high 60's during day and lows at night). DS has been sneezing more than usual, too, and sounds nasally. I've suctioned him a few times a day and there are boogers galore in there. This morning, he just sounds "stuffy" and nothing came out with suctioning. I know he's not sick because he doesn't have a temp and is acting fine overall.
This gets me to the next questions: Should I be using a humidifier at night? If so, warm or cool mist? What is the difference between the two?
Thank you! This is all so new to us...yikes!
Re: When to use a humidifier? cool vs. warm?
First use a cool mist humidifier at night and during the day if you want to. Other than safety issues I am not sure what the difference is, my pedi told us to use a cool mist so that is what we are using.
Second go to your local pharmacy and buy a bottle of little noses salene drops, let three or four drop fall into your baby's nose and then suction out with a bulb syringe. The salene drops will break up the crusty stuff and loosen the thinck mucous in his nose.
