This might be a stretch, but I'm curious if anyone has had inguinal hernia repair surgery (I realize this might get zero responses, ha!).
I had the lap surgery in April and conceived in June. My doctor said it was perfectly okay to start TTC as soon as it was physically comfortable for me, so I was never concerned of trying too early (we started in May).
I am now having discomfort sometimes where the repair mesh is and I'm concerned that it will be painful as my belly grows. I had the surgery in the first place so there wouldn't be complications/intestine strangulation during pregnancy. I am also not looking forward to seeing what my small incision scars look like on a pregnant belly!
Anyone have the surgery and already experience a pregnancy? I'm going to discuss the discomfort with my doctor at my next appointment to see if she wants to send me back to the surgeon for a checkup. I just can't imagine they can really check the mesh without going back in.
Re: Anyone have hernia repair?
I had my gallbladder out when I was 13 weeks prego and my little scars stretched a little healed fine and are now small again hope that helps
I had an inguinal in my last pg, but I opted to wait until after I'd be done having kids to get it fixed since he couldn't guarantee that the mesh would hold in subsequent pregnancies.
So, I'm not a whole lot of help, but I think its worth a call to your surgeon to ask the question what to expect, and what pain is normal (ie, if you can tell that its just stretching, or tearing). I hope it holds for you! I'm not looking forward to hernia pain again.
