Finishing the registry?

How long would you wait to finish your registry and use the coupon?

I have a few gift cards I'd like to use, and a few things that would be nice, but I am not sure whether or not I want to finish out the registry just yet. Since LO was born a whole month early (today's my due date!), one of my showers was cancelled, and has not been rescheduled yet. We didn't have newborn pics taken until last Saturday since Foster was in the NICU for a while, and I haven't gotten the pictures yet. So we haven't sent out birth announcements or had friends visit at all yet.

I know we've had some friends have babies and we gave them gifts from their registries when we went to visit/bring dinner after their babies were born... I don't know if I'm eager to finish the registries just to shop (since I've been pretty isolated at home or going back and forth to the hospital/doctor for the past month) or I really feel the need for a few of the things on the registry. Obviously I've gotten through the first month without these items. I am thinking it's more of a shopping impulse now, but I also guess I shouldn't wait too long. Thoughts? What are your plans for finishing out your registries before or after your LOs arrive/arrived?

We have been focusing on the things we will need as soon as she gets home.  The rest of the registry can wait.  We've been using the coupons rather than the completion coupons so far.  Since your LO is already here, start with the necessities only?  I'm sure people will be bringing gifts when they come to visit - and maybe you can do a "Meet the Baby" day?
