Especially STM: what did you use, or are planning to use for a diaper bag? My sister wants to buy me a Kate Spade bag, but it does not have many inside pockets for bottles and such, I am just wondering if I would feel disorganized with out it, or if I could just through in one of those bottle bags and be ok.
I could figure out how to PIP, so I just posted the link.

Re: Diaper Bag
I prefer one with outside bottle pockets, otherwise it just floats around in your bag and maybe even leaks and I don't want to carry a separate bottle bag.
I BF too, but I still carried bottles later on. And sippy cups for sure.
I've got my eye on a Marc Jacobs nylon bag. The Coach ones are just too huge for everyday errands and stuff. And the Kate Spade's don't have the nice outside pockets.

My only baby purchase so far has been a Kate Spade Diaper bag. It was from their surprise sale back in May or June. I'm in love with it and can't wait to use it. It can be worn as a crossbody or shoulder bag. I showed it to DH and even he approved as it's not a girly looking bag (it's navy/cream stripes with red interior).
I'm now looking at the sale going on now and debating on getting the black backpack /crossbody purse because I figure it can also be used as a 2nd baby bag. I have a real obsession with purses, and I think it may carry into diaper bags.
I have a Skip Hop Duo that we'll probably use again. I don't have to carry much for DS #1...just a sippy cup and some snacks. I definitely need lots of pockets for a newborn though...there is so much crap to carry!
When I don't use the diaper bag, I carry everything in a Lonchamp tote bag. They don't have pockets but they're great b/c they wash well.
We have this one with DD

But are planning on getting one of those more duffel style bags when #2 comes along so we have more space. The JJC bag was okay for DD, but many times we would have liked something bigger.
Personally, I hated carrying a diaper bag and bought a bigger purse. The diaper bag stays in the car for refills. I also BF so I never needed to carry a ton of bottles.
For number 2, I just bought a LL Bean backpack to replace one I've had since college. We use the old one for LOs stuff when we travel and I'm always blown away by how much fits in it (unlike our diaper bag). It seemed more practical to get something we'll use for along time instead of something baby-specific. If I was going to buy something from Kate Spade or Coach, it wouldn't be diaper bag but that's just me!
