I know I promised I wouldn't make a "It's a..." or "Team..." or "A/S results.." thread, but I need your thoughts and prayers ladies. We of course weren't expecting this, hence, I wasn't expecting the need to make this post.
We had our a/s this afternoon. Baby measured in the 55th percentile. They kept my due date of January 20th. Baby girl is measuring a little big, which isn't surprising. I'm 5'9 and DH is 6'1. She weights about 9oz right now. We got to hear her heartbeat for the first time. Everything was absolutely wonderful and right on target...
Until the tech said the Doctor wanted to speak to us. I immediately became very nervous. He explained all the things they look for and check on during an a/s, including Down Syndrome. He said there are quite a few factors they look at that can place one at a higher risk of having a baby with DS. One of them and the least to worry about is extra fluid in the kidneys. Our baby girl has a little extra fluid in her kidneys. They said this is typically more common in boys, which obviously doesn't help our case. However, since Baby is 100% healthy in every other aspect (including all other Downs factors) and is measuring a little ahead, he said this was very common and to not worry.
How do you tell first time parents to not worry, but that my previous 1:800 ratio went to 1:600?! Yes, you're probably thinking it's still a slim chance. However, we're worried. We've done a lot of research already and have since started to feel a tiny bit better. This is apparently really common. However, we could still use your thoughts, love, and prayers. Please be thinking of our Baby Girl. I'm having blood drawn on Friday and they want to do a follow-up u/s between 26-28 weeks.
I'll be sure to keep y'all posted, but please, please, please send as many T&Ps our way as you can. If you made it all the way through this, thank you.

Dear Baby Pacheco...
Thinking of you now, I was called right before my Drs office closed that there's a 1% chance of something being wrong with our girl because of a calcium deposit on her heart.
Statistics don't help [or feel like the even matter] when you're told there might be something wrong with someone who's supposed to be so precious and perfect.
Hoping you get great results from your blood work.

We had this with DD...we had a repeat scan a month later and no fluid on her kidneys at that point.
Hugs, I know it's so scary!

Sending you lots of T&Ps!!! Our son was diagnosed with hydronephrosis when I was pregnant with him, and while it is definitely more common in little boys, it's definitely not unheard of in little girls by any stretch of the imagination.
Do you have any other soft markers for Downs? And how severe is the hydronephrosis? We were told that only in really severe cases would the kidney issue alone raise our risk for Downs, and with no other soft markers, no one was concerned about it in the least. (Although it has required some follow up since my son has been born.)
I know it's hard to say "don't worry." I worried about my son's kidneys a lot, even knowing that it is a very common thing in little boys.
As for the increase in your Down's risk - try to keep that in perspective too. At my ripe old age of 34, my risk for Down's just from being borderline AMA is greater than 1/600. If you have no other soft markers (and they look for a lot of them), then you likely just have a minor kidney issue to deal with - that for many babies clears up by birth. Even if it doesn't clear up, it's a common problem that pediatricians deal with a lot now (ever since we've started detecting these things so accurately).
Hang in there!

Thanks everyone!!!!
We've talked to a few more people and have done more research and we're honestly feeling so much better about it. This is really so common and it almost always takes care of itself. I'm getting the blood drawn Friday simply to ease my mind, but we're expecting the best.
It's hard to hear that everything isn't 100% perfect, but we're feeling really good and we're sure our sweet baby girl is going to be just fine. I'll definitely keep you guys posted with results from the blood draw and also after the 26ish week ultrasound.
That being said, please, please keep her in your prayers.
