2nd Trimester

Surgery this friday.

Hello ladies,

If you've read any of my past posts you know that i've been having a lot of gallbladder issues. I went and saw a surgeon last week and he told me in the end the choice was up to me. I had finally leaned torwards toughing it out on Lucas arrived. But then i recieved a call from my actual doctor saying i need to get it done because it could get infected and could end up hurting him :/

I'm so terribly nervous and i want it to go smoothly. I know getting your gallbladder removed is a very small surgery but being pregnant complicates it a bit.

I can't bear to stand the fact that i am putting my unborn child under. It literally breaks my heart and i'm so scared that it's going to end up hurting him.

But i guess i can't keep taking these strong painkillers....Can't be much better.

Anyway, i'm just looking for T&P and any success stories you have to calm my nerves...

TIA <3

  • Good luck to you! I'm sure everything will be just fine. I've read about women having to undergo surgery during pregnancy and everything was okay. I know it's scary, but it is for the best, and once it's done you can enjoy your pregnancy without the pain and discomfort that ol' gallbladder has been causing you. Lots of thoughts, prayers, and happy thoughts.

  • You will do great.  I had my appendix out when I was 26 pregnant with my first.  Take it easy when you are recovering, but I doubt you will regret this.

  • I think I replied in your last thread but I wanted to reassure you. I had my gallbladder out when I was 14 weeks pregnant. They did an u/s on him as soon as I got to recovery and he was moving around and his HB was very strong.  I'm now almost 21 weeks and my baby boy is perfectly healthy.
The doctors know what they are doing and there are ways to use the least amount of drugs and anesthesia possible during surgery. Good luck and I promise you will feel 100x better when you heal. Everything will be fine!
