Spelling poll

About a month and a half ago I gave in to spelling DH wanted, mainly because we were getting name plate carved in wood and lady agreed with DH that Miles is more like a measure of distance. Now DH is second guessing Myles because he's been seeing Miles here and there. At this point I am ok either way, even though we already have name plate as Myles. Thanks for your input.

Re: Spelling poll

  • Miles because the "y" looks a little tacky, in my opinion.

I have to agree. I'd DEFINITELY go with Miles. Miles is a great name!

  • I actually prefer Myles. I think it looks more like a name and less like a unit of measure. Normally I would prefer not having a "y" where an "i" might be, but this is one of those exceptions.

  • Miles is classic.
  • It looks feminine with a Y.

  • I think Myles is a name and miles is a unit of measure.  A "y" does not always indicate feminine or youneek.  Sometimes it belongs in a name, think Kyle, I think Myles is a name where the 'y" belongs.

  • I prefer Miles. It's on our short list.

  • The "y" just makes it look tacky and misspelled. It makes it look feminine. And to previous poster who cited "Kyle", that is the traditional spelling of the name, just as "Miles" is the traditional spelling of this name.  Replacing an "i" with a "y" just looks silly if it's not supposed to be there.
