Good news/bad news

We had our A/S today, and Reid is looking pretty damn good. So that's awesome.

Bad news is that DD gave me conjunctivitis. Although she got over hers quickly, mine is TERRIBLE. Both eyes. Vision is affected. Specialist says it will be 2 weeks. She also said I shouldn't touch anyone, including my daughter, for two weeks because I can reinfect her. I can also reinfect myself, apparently.

I'm pretty devastated by that. How do you explain to a 16-month-old that mommy can't touch her for two weeks?

Yay for your ultrasound going well.

Boo for pink eye!  I don't think there is any way to not touch your daughter for 2 weeks.  When my daughter had pink eye, I just was careful to wash my hands plenty and stay away from her eye.  Good luck and I hope you don't pass it back and forth!

Im an eye doctor... And I'd never tell someone it would take 2 weeks for that to clear up. First of all, unless they did a culture which no one does or have a good reason to think its a very specific virus or bacteria, there is no way of knowing. A week should be plenty of time, honestly. Also, telling you not to touch your child is completely impractical. I tell people to wash their hands as much as possible. If its really bad, I advise them to stay home until redness improves and the eyes aren't "weepy" anymore. Did he/she prescribe anything? Seems like very strange advice likely from someone with no kids?. Just my two cents :

I had Mono at the beginning of this year and had to keep my distance from the kids, no kisses. Mine were 5 and 2 so they understood but it was hard. I really hope you get over it before the 2 weeks! Just remember to o good hand washing.

Sorry to hear that.  I'd still touch her - but wash before.  I can't see a way not to touch a toddler for 2 weeks.  Virtually impossible on a variety of levels.
