I did have a sit down with the director to discuss my snack/hand washing concerns. She was flabbergasted! She thanked me for bringing this to her attention and stated she'd be reiterating to the teachers/parents to choose and bring healthier snacks. Afterall, with 12 kids in the class having birthdays to bring the "junkie treats" not to mention hoildays and such - she said the was more than enough. The director also mentioned that the school SHOULD be putting more emphasis on hand washing and that the wipes were mainly for easy clean ups after snack or craft. I feel so relieved after our convo to which she also informed me that A LOT of parents DO NOT read the handbook or just flat out don't care to follow the rules/suggestions.
Re: Uppdate: Preschool issues regarding hand washing/sunscreen/snacks
I meant to reply to your post yesterday but work got the best of me. There have been some issues out here with elementary schools not being allowed legally to put suntan lotion on kids. there was a story about a girl who got really badly burnt, she has a skin condition and her sun time is supposed to be limited (which the school did not follow) but regardless they're standing by the school not putting suntan lotion on. It's really sad, but I think it's a liabiltiy issue - like if they miss a spot or something like that.
