He ate half a bag of spinach

Holy Christ on a bicycle.  I tried a smoothie I saw online that was just fresh spinach, pineapple and greek yogurt.  He sucked that thing down like it was crack and I think in the end, he ate about half a bag of spinach.  I also got him to eat a decent amount of a quesadilla that I had snuck some beans into.  They claim he eats at daycare but I have the hardest time with him and he's such a peanut.  Tonight was a definite win :)

Re: He ate half a bag of spinach

  • Hmm.. I definitely have to try me some spinach smoothies! DS will drink smoothies and it's about the only way I can get fruit into him.

I just made some carrot mandarin popcycles. DS loved it ! I used one can of pureed carrots (jar of baby food), one single serving of mandarin oranges and a big dollop of vanilla greek yogurt. It made 4 popcycles and they taste just like orange creamcycles!

  • Wow, that's great. Congrats.

  • Nice!!

We do smoothies with yogurt and fruit and then I steam carrots and green beans to pure in as well. Z gulps it down. I tried it and couldn't tell that the veggies were in there.

    Score for us :

  • It probably didn't hurt that I kept telling him it was Spiderman juice.  Which makes no sense because, duh, it would have been red.  Kids are so dumb :-p

  • That is awesome!!!  DS gets a smoothie every day at our house (with spinach, kale, lima beans, green beans, peas, carrots, etc. and tons of fruit and coconut milk) because he's a terrible eater as well.  It makes me feel so much better to know he's getting something other than yogurt, crackers, pancakes, and cheese.

I think I need to make more smoothies. What was the recipe you used OP?

ReciWHAA? :)  I just blended together a can of pineapple pieces (in juice and I used the juice too) a bag of baby spinach and one container of plain greek yogurt.  They didn't have any small containers of whole milk greek and I wasn't sure if he'd like it so I didn't want to buy the big container.  Now that I know he likes it I'm going to buy the big whole milk container and try out a few variations.
