Dutch Wonderland or Sesame Place

Next Friday I'm off and we would like to take the girls someone special. We were thinking either Dutch Wonderland or Sesame Place. DW is one hour away and SP is 2 hours away. I'm wondering is their enough to do at both places for an almost three year old? I plan to bring my stroller for C and wear her if it's not to hot too.

A few weeks ago we drove to Cumberland 2.5 hours one way and C screamed almost the entire way (I sat in the back for most of the trip), it was hell... I like to not repeat it. I'm leaning toward Dutch Wonderland. Any recommendations for things to skip/or see?

TIA

Re: Dutch Wonderland or Sesame Place

  • I was just thinking about the same thing!  Evie and Victor's daycare has an in-service day on 8/24, and it is also DH and I's Birthdays that weekend.  I am trying to think of something fun to do.  Evie would really like Seasame Place, but Victor doesn't do well in the car or in the heat...

  • I would do DW and save Sesame Place for next year. (I have never been to SP, but we've already gone to DW twice this year). I love it there so much and think its perfect for kids and babies. And if its an hour vs two, that's even better in the event C decides to scream again.

  • We are going to DW this weekend for the day with family (they have 2 and 3 yos) We have 15 month old.  I can let you know.

  • Maria- If you decide to go, I found a promo code online for $7 off each ticket (2012002). Kids 2 and under are free (so that helped with my decision too). You and pretty much purchase the tickets online and use them anytime throughout the 2012 season. Another nice perk.

  • We went to Dutch Wonderland today and DS loved it.  He didn't nap at all in the morning so he was a little fussy toward the afternoon.  Since he is still little he couldn't get on a lot of things, but I think a 3 year old would do great at that park.  Never been to Sesame Place, but I did hear they get super crowded during the weekends.  Not sure about Fridays.

  • Definitely DW.  I think you get more bang for your buck, plus it's closer.

  • My BIL and SIL just did both parks this week, but Dutch Wonderland was way cheaper.  They took all 3 kids (4 yrs, 2 yrs, and almost 1) and they had a great time.  I would recommend DW for the price and proximity.

  • We have gone to both and did not think SP was worth the money.  We were glad we did not pay full price.  We did a twilight ticket, which was about half the price of a regular ticket but you can't enter the park until after three.  For us that was perfect because she is tired after 4 hours, it was open till 7 or 8 can't remember, and I don't like having her out in the heat of the day.  We left at her nap time and she slept all the way up.  SP was a lot of water rides, which were too old for her, and they try to sell you on everything.  They have a character meal, which costs, and several other extras I felt like it was disney prices but not disney quality if you know what I mean.

  • SP is mainly a water park. It wouldn't be good for the smaller one. Definitely DW.

  • DW was fun... just went this weekend.  Ella wasn't able to do everything since she was too little but she still had a blast.

  • When i was little my parents took me to SP.   Let me just say the place was awesome, but it was a bit shady. My parents never EVER took me there again. Now maybe it's gotten better over the years but I don't think so.
