Would you get another Exersaucer at this point?

Good morning, ladies!

Here's my WWYD question: SIL let us borrow their Exersaucer. LO loves it!! Anyway, they had DD2 back in May and I knew their DD would probably be ready for it before our DS was done with it. SIL emailed yesterday and asked if we could send it back this weekend since other SIL is going to visit them.

It makes complete sense, I just didn't think this day would sneak up so quickly. I'm debating getting another Exersaucer. It has been a life saver for those minutes I need to put him down and do something without him crawling away. LO hates the play yard he knows when he's being locked up! yet he never minded the Exersaucer. The age range is up to walking age around 12 months or 30 inches LO is on the small end of the growth charts

So, what would you ladies do?? Last night I was leaning toward getting one and I found some online for a decent price, but now this morning, I'm not so sure...

  • If you and he like it so much, why not? Check out craigslist. I buy all the big toys secondhand. I bought a FP musical activity table the other day for 12 retail 45. A while back I got his FP jumperoo for 40 retail 90.

  • If LO loves it then yes!  I don't know what I would do without the jumparoo, like you said DS hates being in his PnP and I need somewhere to keep him contained while I am getting ready for work or need to do something quick.  You will use it again if you have more children.  Like PP said, check craigslist, I too get the big items there.  You can find some good deals and stuff that is in really good shape, almost new!

  • If he still is using I probably would- especially if you plan on having more children (I know your next LO might not like it as much- you never know- he/she could love it just as much as DS) I would check out Craigslist and see if any stores have them on sale like pps said.

  • DD used the Exersaucer (dubbed "the office") for 14 months.  We loved it almost as much as she did.  It was nice to put her in there while I did things that I didn't need "help" with and I knew she couldn't sneak off to get into anything while I showered.  Now DS is loving it more and more everyday too.  If you can find a great deal I'd scoop it right up!

  • If it were me, I would get another one.  DS loves his, and it's a nice place where I can contain him if I need to do a few things around the house.

  • We have this:

    Not exactly an exersaucer, but the same idea. The reason I wanted this one is because it will grow with her for a while. She still sits in it sometimes, but now she'd rather stand and hold onto it while she plays. Once she starts walking or at least cruising we will remove the seat and she can still stand a play. We def have gotten a lot of use out of it (since she was 4m) and she still loves it.

  • I think I would too. Maybe since its so late in the game find a gently used one? Unless you plan to have more children. Then I don't think it's a waste at all.
    We have the FP Rainforest jumperoo. My mom has an exersaucer. DS loves his jumperoo way more. Maybe it would be more fun to try a jumperoo?
    Before we bought we tried it out at BRU not sure if that was okay or not though ;

  • That is a tough one because our LO seems to be enjoying his less and less since he's now crawling. But it sure is nice to put him in it for 5-10 mins or so sometimes. And a neighbor gave us their old one so we are lucky to have one in the backyard too and that one gets used frequently too. And it's good to read here that many kids use them up to 12+ months. So I suppose I would try the local consignment stores, garage sales, etc first.

  • Thanks ladies.

    I checked a few consignment stores today and no luck.  I'm going to keep looking and check out Craig's List.  I figure we've still got another 4 months of saucer-ing so it will be worth it!
