speaking of tubes tied...

Can they tie your tubes if you have a vaginal birth?  or is this a procedures you have to have at another time?

  • It's a surgical procedure so no, they don't do it during a vaginal birth. You'd have to do it later or ask them to do it in the event you have to have a c-section (that's what I did).

  • It has to be done at a different time. Some drs will let you do it the next day before you leave the hospital. I'm having mine done during my c/s.

  • My md said there's an option called essure.  You can do it at 6 weeks post delivery without surgery.  I've research it and are not getting good feedback.  Its fairly new.
  • OP - yes, absolutely.  It's called a post partum tubal.

Tiny incision below your belly button done literally right after delivery or the next day.  Lowest failure rate of all.

    Other options:

    1.  Laparoscopic tubal as early as 6 weeks post partum

    2.  Hysteroscopic tubal occlusion - Adianna or Essure

    3.  Vasectomy :)
