It's a surgical procedure so no, they don't do it during a vaginal birth. You'd have to do it later or ask them to do it in the event you have to have a c-section (that's what I did).

My md said there's an option called essure. You can do it at 6 weeks post delivery without surgery. I've research it and are not getting good feedback. Its fairly new.

OP - yes, absolutely. It's called a post partum tubal.
Tiny incision below your belly button done literally right after delivery or the next day. Lowest failure rate of all.
Other options:
1. Laparoscopic tubal as early as 6 weeks post partum
2. Hysteroscopic tubal occlusion - Adianna or Essure
3. Vasectomy
