My brother and his GF just had a baby girl and they named her Phoenix.
GF has been calling her Phe Phe as a nn, but I can't get over the association I have with FiFi, which is what I think all poodles are named!
I know ultimately it is up to them what they call her, and I am probably just being bitchy (which you can totally call me out on!), but does anyone have a suggestion for other nns? She is an adorable little thing, and so far I have just been calling her Phe.
Re: NN for Phoenix?
I guess I needed to be told twice, lol! I know it is their choice what their child is called, but truth be told, my brother isn't crazy about the name. I guess I was wanting to give him some ideas so he could have a chance to get used to it! He calls her Phe as well, so I feel ok with that.
I really wasn't trying to be disrespectful, and I know GF's mom has already come up with her own nn for the baby (but of course grandma's get special privileges!) so I thought I'd ask!
ETA: when I was growing up, different aunts had different nns for me that my parents didn't call me. I liked it, but I can see how a parent could be offended by that!
I totally 100% disagree with this. I don't see anything wrong with different family members coming up with nicknames as long as they are respectful. Especially aunts and uncles. I think that nicknames are a way people have adapted to connect with people. Sometimes parents exclusively have nicknames and sometimes other people have nicknames. I had one uncle who called me Whinnie Pooh and he was the only one. There is nothing wrong with that.
It's only 2 syllables. Why does it need a nn?
I don't get the name to begin with anyway...
Agree. ...but the first thing that popped into my mind was Feenie. lol That won't work.
