August 2012 Moms

DH went back to work today :(

I wanted to say thanks to all the ladies for their T&P last week before my rcs! It went great.  It was the weirdest experience of my life, but the end result was well worth it!

We welcomed Camille Maryellen into our family on August 9th at 8:16am.  She was 8lbs 1oz and 20.5 inches long.  Of course she is perfect ;)  Her big sister is so excited to have 'her baby' finally.

DH went back to work today.  He has a job where it's really hard for him to be away. Luckily my mom will be coming this afternoon to help, we have Cam's first Dr. appt after lunch!

Breastfeeding is going o.k. It's still very painful and we are seeing a LC on Fri to help with some issues.  My nips look like they have been in a meat grinder.  So any advice on healing those would be awesome!

I have been lurking on my phone all week, but haven't had time to update until now, so CONGRATS to all the moms who have had their LO's! Here are a few pics:

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • Congrats! Your girls are beautiful!

My DF works OOT and started back last week. I was soo scared to have to deal with a newb, toddler, and 2 dogs by myself. It actually went pretty smooth and was confident enough to take everyone outside for a walk together!

Fingers crossed it goes smooth for you as well!

  • I apply Lanolin after every pump session DS won't latch...LC appointment tomorrow and put a breastpad on, so it keeps the nipple saturated with Lanolin. I pump every 2 hours and my nipples haven't cracked or anything and look great for how much they're being used! Congrats on your LO!

  • Congrats on your little one! Our baby was also 8 lbs 1 oz but a 1/2 inch shorter. :)

As for breastfeeding, I'm going through the same thing. I saw a LC and she gave me a nipple shield to use as well as plastic Medela nipple covers to wear in my bra so nothing is touching them. We are trying to heal my nipples. It's sooo painful but the nipple shield definitely helps. I don't like the nipple covers but I'll use them until my nipples are all the way healed. Best of luck, I hope your LC gives you some great pointers.
