DH texted me about this this morning. Man, they have had a lot of trouble with these things! We have one, but DS was never much of a fan. I got the most use out of it for his 4, 5, and 6 months pictures but that's about it.

I have never been comfortable with bumbos since I saw DS1 arch his back and pop himself out of one without much effort. I can't believe people are dumb enough to sit their kid in one on a tabletop or counter unattended.
I just saw this on FB we used ours and plan to use it for DD2. I think I will order the recall kit, but I feel like its one of those things where if you're careful meaning, don't put your kid in one on an elevated surface and then walk away! and keep an eye on your child, then the safety belt isn't really necessary.

This! I don't really feel comfortable leaving DD in the seat with me two inches away. She really doesn't like the seat all that much, but really people, it's called supervising your baby.
Our physical therapist actually had us get one for Evie to help her strengthen her back and neck muscles. It worked really well in assisting her to sit up and get some of the pressure off the back of her head.. However, like ither said, she was NEVER in it unattended.
I think it is slightly ridiculous that they have to recall a product because people are using it incorrectly.

This is what I said and I asked DH (who has a lot more personal-injury-law experience than I do, since I have zero) and he said it's a "foreseeable misuse" of the product so there would still be liability. I still think it's ridiculous though.
