Hip Pain

I've noticed over the past few days that it feels like my hips have been locking up when I go from laying down to standing. Like intense sharp pains and its difficult to move my hips normally to walk.

I am sure that this is probably due to everything shifting and such, but my whole life I always was "blessed" shall we say, with those "child bearing hips". What a stupid thing to tell someone they have.

Has anyone else noticed this? I am hoping its not residual from my accident.

Re: Hip Pain

  • I've got child bearing hips too, but started experiencing this over the weekend.  I was getting it when walking, moving from a laying to sitting position, or standing up.  It isn't a constant pain and has somewhat subsided, so I'm chalking it up to a baby growing pain.

  • yes. It could either be round ligament pain or just the hips and pelvis spreading.

  • I've had a similar pain when going from sitting/laying to standing. I feel like it is my sciatic nerve being irritated more than growing pain mostly because it tends to only bother me on my left side.

  • I started having this issue while pregnant with DS. Unfortunately, it never completely went away and I now have the same issue with this pregnancy. You just learn to move a little more slowly when changing position. You may want to talk to you OB about options and maybe seeing a chiropractor. I have a friend who did physical therapy and said it helped a lot. I may look into that this time.
  • I had some intense hip pain too--although it has eased some now. I couldn't sit Indian style or flex my leg out sideways....I'm glad to hear others are experiencing this {uncomfortable} side effect & it isn't just me!
  • I get this too, it can be from a combination of many factors including hips/pelvis spreading, loosening of your ligaments and additional pressure for the new weight. When mine get's really uncomfortable I go see my chiropractor and she helps get everything back into position and leaves me feeling much bettter. If you do decide to go see a chiropractor make sure you ask them about their experience with pregnant women before making the appointment, or maybe try asking your ob if he/she has one they recommend. My doctor told me about my chiropractor during my last pregnancy when my hips and backs were getting unbearable and I love her!
