Has anyone travelled by air lately with their infant? I'm looking to make a trip in a couple of months and I'm trying to figure out the best way to make the trip with the baby. We will need a carseat at our destination, and I'd like to carry the stroller.
Does anyone know how gate checking works? I have a Graco MetroLite stroller and I'm wondering if it's too big to gate-check. I really don't want to check it with the baggage in case they break it.
Any tips or hints are more than welcome!
TIA!
Re: travelling with baby
I've gate-checked both pieces of our travel system without any problem when flying Delta. ?They'll give you tags at the counter and you just leave the car seat and stroller at the end of the jetway. ?If there are empty seats on the plane, you may be able to take the car seat on and have your little one sit in it. ?
HTH!?
I took his carseat on and gate-checked his stroller without a problem. On the flight from DC to JFK, I gave up his seat and did infant-in-arms so they could squeeze another passenger on there. They gate-checked his carseat also without a problem. They confirmed that gate-checking is better for the stroller/seat than checking it with baggage. Just stroll up to the airplane door/stairs...they'll see you coming and take care of you.
