Baby Showers

For those of you who are having showers when are you going to have them. I was thinking all the hustle and bustle of the holidays might make it a little difficult to plan one in November or December.  This is baby number 2 for me and although I don't need  any big baby items I would still like to have a shower just because I like all of the games and having family and friends together.  I will just tell everyone that gifts aren't expected.

My MIL is planning to throw me a sprinkle the first week of Dec.

Mine was at 33 weeks with DS.

I am not having one this time, as far as I am aware, though I wouldn't be surprised if they throw me one at work, just because I didn't work here when I was pregnant with DS. 

I would say we would have brunch or something a few days before because we had one for my aunt, but a few days before will be Christmas, so I don't expect it at all.

My shower is actually going to be early 9/2 - but thats because both sides of the family needed it on a 3 day weekend to travel, and Nov is too close for me. (due 1/1 with twins).

11/3 and 11/10 (one local and one 3 hrs away) 

The local one was supposed to be held at my house in Oct, but my house will still be under construction and the host is now moving a few weeks before the proposed date so we moved it to Nov.

My sister just texted me about baby shower dates. We both thought October sometime would be best to avoid all the holidays.

My sisters are planning one for me but I'm not sure if it'll be in October or November and DH's aunts are planning a shower for both DH and I (more like a party then a "shower") and I have no idea when that one will be yet.

Mine will be November 24th because a lot of our family is coming to us for Thanksgiving, so it was easier to do it that weekend.

If you do this, I'll warn you that from your wording it sounds like you are throwing yourself a shower, for a second child at that. And those ladies won't hesitate to call you out on it as both are big no-nos

I was just about to post something along these lines and I totally agree with all these points.  If you aren't expecting gifts, I wouldn't call it a shower, as that is the whole point of a shower, to give gifts to first-time parents to make sure they are set for their new baby.  Calling it a shower if you really don't expect gifts could lead to a lot of confusion and people feeling uncomfortable b/c some people might bring gifts and some people might not.  If you just want to have a party, have a party. Have a gathering of your friends or maybe have a meet the baby party after the baby is born.

Mine will be Oct 13th -- given we're expecting twins, I'll be lucky if I'm not on bedrest and/or horribly uncomfortable at that point!

My shower will most likely be the 1st weekend in December...i'll be 34 weeks

December 1st it works great with my fam and people that will be attending the shower and its about a month before my due date so still i will be prepared if baby does come a lil early or in december instead of january but i'm hoping for january so i'm taking it easy!

Mine is in oct. For some od the same reasons and I live 12 hours away. So traveling after turkey day is out of the question.

I was just going to ask this!

Mine is going to be Nov. 10th. Sisters wanted to avoid December all together which I think is a great idea because I am a last min shopper and will need those Saturdays to prep for Christmas! Also, thought Dec might be an extra pinch in people's pocketbooks they don't need right before Christmas.

we our doing ours nov. 18th. that seemed to be the only weekend that worked with everyone!

I worry that it will come across as greedy to have a baby shower when I know everyone will probably get us baby stuff for Christmas.  Anybody else worried about that?  *sheepish look*
