We just hosted our Gender Reveal Party and it was SO much fun. I know there are a lot of negative opinions on the gender reveal party idea - however, coming from someone who did it - it was a lot of fun!
My husband and I found out the gender last Wednesday and kept it a secret from everyone until the reveal. We filled a box with PINK balloons and had the grandparents open it at the end of the party. We had a board so people could put their vote of what they thought we were having and we also had a fun little "guess the top 5 cravings board." Everyone wore pink or blue. We had a cake with pink and blue question marks all over it. Lots of food and lots of beer (it was also a great excuse to get everyone together before the summer ended!)
We certainly ended up with a lot of great photos, a great video and everyone had a great time.
I will say that it was NOT a shower of any type and there were no gifts. I know a lot of people think it is "just another way to get gifts" - so as long as you don't go into it with that mindset I imagine it will be a good time for all.
Just wanted to share because I know I was hesitant to do one after reading all the negativity - and wanted to throw it out there that I would highly suggest doing one!
Re: Gender Reveal Party Success
That is so great everything turned out well! Congratulations on the girl!!!
We had our gender reveal party over the weekend too and did the box of blue balloons. We had everyone wear either a pink/blue necklace with their guess. There were no gifts, just good food and a good time like you.
We had our gender reveal party this past weekend as well. It was soooo much fun. We had a huge bbq, with lots of booze, cornhole, and a bonfire. We released a bunch of balloons from a box during the party, everyone had a great time. It was in no way like a shower, and I did not receive any gifts.
Some people on here have negative opinions about these, but to each and their own. I don't particularly like co-ed baby showers, but I wouldnt put someone down for having one. Glad your party was a success!

We are going to have a party well two parties as well. We will have my family over for dinner and have my mom cut the cake and reveal the color. Then a week later DH's family will come over and we will do the same thing. No presents or anything either.
That is such a cute idea! love it
